Feedback on 4- to 3-lane pilot project needed
In July 2022, the county restriped Lyndale Avenue between Franklin Avenue and 31st Street from four driving lanes to three: one travel lane in each direction with a center turn lane. This pilot project provides an opportunity to observe the benefits and impacts to Lyndale Avenue and the surrounding neighborhoods, which is an important next step to help inform a future vision for the corridor.
County staff worked with the City of Minneapolis, Metro Transit and other stakeholders on important elements to implement this pilot project including the details of striping changes from four lanes to three lanes. We also communicated and engaged with nearby residents, businesses and other stakeholders prior to the restriping.
Take our survey to help determine what’s next
Hennepin County will continue to analyze the benefits and impacts of the three-lane design through February 2023. We will be studying data that we have collected before and after the change. We will also consider what we have heard from the community.
Your input is especially important right now. Please take our survey.
Your feedback and the data collected will inform the decision making for the next steps for the four- to three-lane pilot in spring 2023.
We want to hear from you
As part of the pilot, the county will be tracking and evaluating benefits and impacts to people walking and rolling, transit, deliveries, parking and overall traffic. We are also seeking feedback from the community about how they think the restriping has changed the corridor.
Engage with the project team:
This will help inform the outcome for the pilot and overall future vision for the corridor.
Additional opportunities
With the 3-lane design in place, we continue to seek feedback from all Lyndale Avenue users, residents and businesses. We will continue to communicate and gather feedback from community organizations and will be staffing informational tables where people frequent and gather. Additionally, watch for a survey coming soon to share your input. Sign up for project email updates below or check back here for more details on these events.
