Contact your auto shop about motor oil collection locations. Any retailer that sells motor oil must post a sign listing a phone number for disposal options or the location of the nearest collection site.

Other disposal options

Empty motor oil containers: Put in the garbage

Empty motor oil containers are NOT recyclable. They should go into the garbage.

Motor oil must be in containers of 5 gallons or smaller in size and labeled.

Drop-off facilities do not accept:

No motor oils and filters used for business purposes, including home businesses and property managers.

The City of Brooklyn Park accepts oil from Brooklyn Park residents only.

Do not pour down drain

It is illegal to put motor oil and filters in the garbage or pour it on the land, in water, down a sewer or in a storm drain.
