Untreated wood: donate, give away or sell

Untreated wood may be given away or sold. Lumber six feet or longer and plywood full and half sheets may be donated to Habitat for Humanity’s ReStore. You can also donate lumber to Better Futures Minnesota.

Treated and untreated wood: bring to a landfill transfer station

Treated and untreated wood go to a landfill transfer station. Do not burn treated wood. You can also check with your waste hauler to see if they will pick up small amounts of treated wood.

Rethink or reduce

Consider alternatives to treated wood for your next outdoor project. Ask your lumberyard or home repair retailer for non-toxic treated wood options.
