The Department of Community Corrections and Rehabilitation is required to post the annual PREA report, which includes the number of substantiated, unsubstantiated and unfounded incidents that have occurred at our facilities.
Prison Rape Elimination Act
The Prison Rape Elimination Act, or PREA, is a federal law to guide correctional institutions in regards to detecting, preventing, reducing, and punishing sexual abuse/misconduct in confinement settings. While the law specifically pertains to confinement facilities, the Hennepin County Department of Community Corrections and Rehabilitation is embracing the culture of PREA throughout our department with the goal of keeping our staff, clients and residents safe. The department has zero tolerance for incidents of sexual abuse, misconduct or harassment.
Report an incident
The department investigates all reports of criminal conduct, including sexual abuse and sexual harassment, occurring at our facilities. If you have a complaint of a criminal nature contact the department's Professional Standards and Conduct unit at 612-348-4962, or the Hennepin County Sheriff’s Office.
