Drop-off facilities
Drop-off facilities open with limited operations
Hennepin County’s Drop-Off Facilities in Brooklyn Park and Bloomington are open with limited operations and new safety procedures.
Limited operations are for residents with an imminent disposal need: for example if you are moving or the items contain mercury, lead or flammable products.
Residents are encouraged to continue to safely store other stable items such as latex paint, scrap metal and electronics until the stay-at-home order is lifted.
What to expect:
Limited operations
- New hours: Tues-Sat, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Closed Sun, Mon.
- Not accepting: Appliances, mattresses and TVs weighing more than 50 lbs (items that would take two people to carry and not allow for social distancing). For alternative disposal options, go to www.hennepin.us/greendisposalguide
- Limited payment options: Credit card only (for safety, we’re temporarily not accepting cash or checks)
- The free product centers are closed
- Gas cans must be left to be emptied and will not be returned
- Expect longer-than-normal wait times. Consider visiting on Wednesdays and Thursdays. (Tuesdays and Saturdays are the busiest days.)
Keeping safe
- Residents should remain in their vehicles and are encouraged to wear masks.
- Items should be stored in the trunk of the vehicle, bed of truck, or in a trailer. Staff will remove the items from vehicles.
- Staff have adjusted operations to include 6-ft social distancing and enhanced cleaning/disinfecting. Staff now wear masks, coveralls and gloves.
